As our Garden Grows!

Our son called the other day and was talking about the garden.  We showed him the garden using face-time.  While talking to him he couldn't believe how everything was looking. Here are some of the goodies we showed him.

The onions are about the size of base-balls.  We have to admit it is exciting because this is the first year we have tried these types of onions.

The Swiss chard is still growing strong.

Our Fennel is doing great and we planted some more because we love to roast it with some olive oil sprinkled with salt and pepper then garnished with some freshly grated Parmesan.

Chillin' and Grillin'

While Mamie and Poppy were relaxing on the sun porch, a large black bird with a bright red head flew through the yard.  As you can see from the photo, it is a beautiful Pileated Woodpecker.  We hear them quite often, hammering away in the woods around our house, but today we had the added pleasure of watching it.

Today we were feeling a bit melancholy. Our daughter and grandson left at about 5:30 in the morning to go back home.  We so enjoyed having them with us for the last two weeks.
